SGD Fresh Designer of the Year 2019

Delighted to say that at the recent annual Society of Garden Designers Awards Ceremony I was named as joint winner of the Fresh Designer category for my design of Dulwich College’s Memorial Garden. The category is open to designers who have been in practise for less than five years.

The judges commented:

“An accomplished design demonstrating design skill and flare. Wonderfully restrained and well executed with lovely attention to detail and bold, fresh ideas. The garden is imaginative, clever and self-assured.”

The Society of Garden Designers Awards is an annual awards programme organised by the Society of Garden Designers to reward outstanding achievement in the garden and landscape design profession. Covering all aspects of design from private domestic gardens to public spaces, the SGD Awards are dedicated to promoting excellence among landscape and garden designers.  The Fresh Designer Award was sponsored by Deepdale Trees

I was particularly chuffed to be recognised for my first commission that was completed after graduating from London College of Garden Design, but am now worrying about the precedent I have set myself for future gardens I design.

As always credit must go to the contractor Bowles & Wyer , the guys on the ground who translated my design into a physical space and it has to be said, the skill needed to lay this particular paving pattern can’t be under estimated and the seating manufacturer Mason Cast.
